Education is one of the most important activities of MMCO. Taking in account that the life of the inhabitants of small islands is directly dependent on the ocean, our educational programs are primarily aimed at strengthening the connection between local people and the ocean, through the transfer of knowledge about the links and processes occurring in marine ecosystems to increase the responsible and caring attitude of marine users, at the same time providing for locals to open up opportunities for the professional use of knowledge and skills.

Our educational activities include both lectures on marine megafauna in Mauritius, human impacts and conservation measures for students at all levels, from primary school to undergraduate, sea users, general local public and quests of the island, as well as extended programmes for local communities that provide professional training.

Between July 2021 and August 2022 alone, we held around 50 educational events for almost 1,000 attendees.

If you wish to know more about marine megafauna of Mauritius we organise awareness and educational events for companies, schools, colleges and associations.

Our awareness programmes are suitable for all ages, for kids, teenagers and adults of all ages.
